Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position based at our Goudini Distillery in the Western Cape. The successful candidate will report to the Distillery Manager.
Key Performance Areas include (but are not limited to):
- Coordinate and oversee fortified wine production, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage the blending, stabilization and filtration activities for relevant products.
- Liaise with Co-ops, wine suppliers and other external and internal suppliers.
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures throughout the winemaking process.
- Effective people management and development to achieve department objectives.
- Implement and uphold the Quality Management System.
- Conduct product tastings to ensure quality and consistency.
- Ensure high standards of Health and Safety.
- Maintain workplace discipline and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Supervise and lead subordinates, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Manage and monitor the department's budget effectively.
- Oversee stock management of both wine and additives to ensure availability.
- Update and maintain relevant information in SAP.
- Oversee and manage TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) audits.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications/experience/skills/attributes:
- A relevant tertiary level qualification – qualifications from a University or Agricultural College that covers the theory of Wine making will be strongly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a leadership role
- Effective leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent organising and planning skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels
- Innovative and results-driven
- Resilience and excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrable knowledge of Quality Control, Internal Control Checks (ICC’s), Quality Management Systems (QMS) AND ISO 9001 Systems
- Sound knowledge of relevant SAP requirements will be highly advantageous
- Knowledge of continuous improvement systems and practices highly advantageous
- Willingness to work long, irregular hours when required
- Punctuality and attendance reliability
