An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vineyard Assistant to join Wiston Estate. The Wiston Estate is owned by the Goring family. The multi-award winning Vineyard and Winery, established in 2006 and 2008 respectively, are operated by Findon Park Farm Ltd which is the Estate’s farming company.
The 10 hectares of vines are situated on chalky, flint-rich south facing slopes, 5 miles from the Sussex coastline. The goal is to achieve the highest possible quality and standards of grape production for the creation of our own label world class Sparkling wines.
The successful candidate will work very closely with the Vineyard Manager in all aspects of Vineyard management from pruning to harvesting. The role would suit someone who is comfortable with physical work and has experience of working in a vineyard. Tractor driving experience would be desirable. Crucial to this role however is a positive attitude and a proactive mindset, as training and full support will be given. The role also demands flexibility in working hours during busy periods throughout the growing season, such as during harvest (October) with some weekend work required. Duties will include:-
- Tractor operations, mowing, mulching, trimming and spraying etc
- Viticultural work, pruning, canopy management and data collection
- Vineyard Infrastructure Maintenance, Machinery/Equipment care, trellis and fencing repairs
- Supervision of contract labour teams
- Tractor driving, tour trailer
- Winery work during off season - disgorging, labelling etc

Salary is dependent on experience
