Balfour Winery is a premier cool climate producer of still and sparkling wines, known for its range of interesting grape varieties and expressive wine styles. A harvest with us is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience within one of England’s leading wineries, working in a dynamic and varied role alongside a passionate and skilled team.

The role may involve day or night shifts depending on operational needs. Please note that accommodation could be provided if required. One meal per shift will be provided.

Key responsibilities include:

• Loading presses and assisting on the crush pad
• Cleaning and sanitising winery equipment and tanks
• Grape quality analysis and vineyard sampling
• Basic lab work
• Record keeping and general harvest operations
• Manual handling and crate cleaning
• Fermentation monitoring & sampling
• Barrel Work
• Forklift operations: unloading lorries and trailers, weighing fruit, loading press
• Pumpovers
• Transfers and rackings
• Inoculations

Requirements:  

• Experience of at least one harvest in a winery preferred.
• Ability to work in a team and a hardworking, proactive approach
• Be physically fit and able to lift 25kg
• Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK
• Attention to detail and ability to follow work orders

Full training will be provided. A current forklift truck licence is preferred but not essential. Must be available from early September to early November.
