New wine merchant seeks a capable, dynamic and creative wine enthusiast to join a small team of passionate individuals. We have over the last three years opened three shops in South West London. We hope to open more in the near future. You will be joining a small team who work closely together across the three shops. We want this to be a group of high quality local wine shops that stock wines, spirits and beers for drinking, enjoying and talking about.

Role

This is a new company and new role, so it will be necessary that you are willing to get stuck in from day one. You need to be not phased easily by a challenge and eager to take on the job head on. We would like you to be experienced working with customers, dealing with their requests to a high standard, using common sense and quick thinking. Also be able to take them on a journey of discovery through our curated list of wines, spirits and beers. Training and access to materials will of course be provided.

• Wine retail experience is preferable, but another specialist would also be considered e.g. tailoring or luxury products.
• Managing your own time and always working towards a productive goal is key.
• It is essential that you be capable winning over new and creating a loyal customer base.
• There will be opportunities to take part in the selection of the wine, spirits and beer list and the chance to develop and train new starters as we expand.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in pushing forward growth and always be aware of growth opportunities
• Assisting in the planning, marketing and running tasting events both general and bespoke
• Processing sales and cash handling
• Assisting with publishing materials for the website
• Keeping the shop in a tidy and operationally sound state for customers
• The movement of stock – management of the stockroom and receiving of deliveries
• Stock control and stock taking

Requirements

• Self-motivated and reliable
• A flare for customer service and sales
• Wine or drinks trade experience be that pub, bar, restaurant, retail, or production
• A fast learner who wants to get stuck into a new project
• Minimum WSET Level 2, Court of Master Sommeliers Certified or equivalent
• Flexibility as the shop is open 7 days a week
• A full driving licence fit for UK use would be advantageous

Salary

£23,000 and with a company performance related bonus
