Vine Care UK has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic, committed and hard-working assistant vineyard manager.
Vine Care UK operates in the South of England, providing labour and management services to vineyards, and has done for over 10 years. Vine Care’s small team of vineyard managers and assistant vineyard managers pride themselves on providing only the best quality of service and advice available. As well as providing labour-only work to some vineyards, Vine Care UK also offer full management-packages, which require regular management visits, followed by a written report and follow-up advice. The successful candidate will build a relationship and rapport with various clients through regular visits.
In addition, Vine Care works very closely with its two sister companies – The Vineyard Store (for vineyard materials and supplies) and The Grape Exchange (for the trading of fruit and bulk wine).
This role includes:
· Assisting the vineyard managers to provide accurate and practical advice
· Tractor operations as required
· Working with / supervising our teams in the field
· Data collection as required
· Representing Vine Care UK, The Vineyard Store and The Grape Exchange
· Logistical planning of personnel and movement of tractors and machinery
The ideal candidate must have:
· A full, clean UK driving licence
· At least 2 years’ experience working in a cool climate vineyard
· The ability to identify fungal disease, nutrient deficiencies and pests.
· Previous experience supervising groups of workers
· Impeccable punctuality, organisational, record keeping and presentation skills
· The right to work and reside in the UK
· Have a good degree of written and spoken English
· Have a sound knowledge of various computer applications,including Word and Excel
Desirable:
· A degree in viticulture
· Have a tractor-driving qualification (e.g. LANTRA)
· Have spraying qualifications (PA1, PA2 & PA3)
· Have a fork-lift operating licence
· Have experience towing 3.5t trailers
Training can be provided on the job. Candidates must be prepared to work outside of their contracted hours when required. A competitive salary + 33 days paid holiday per year (including bank holidays).
