Hencote est. 2015 is dedicated to producing quality sparkling and still wine from our 6.5 hectare vineyard and is seeking a Vineyard Operations Manager to join our small, dynamic team in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
The Vineyard Operations Manager will work closely with the management team and under the direction of our Winemaker to oversea all viticultural operations.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- A practical and thorough understanding of cool-climate viticulture.
- A strong history of management and high degree of organisation.
- Willingness to adopt flexibility in working hours throughout busy periods during the growing season.
In the vineyard, duties and responsibilities would include:
- All aspects of viticultural work including supervision of part-time and harvest labour
- Data collection – weather data, crop estimates, bunch counting, yield estimation, grape analysis, disease monitoring, labour efficiency analysis etc
- Oversight of all viticultural Health & Safety practices and maintenance of those practices
Preferred qualifications and skills include:
- At least 2 years viticultural experience
- tractor driving experience with PA1 and PA3 fungicide certification preferred but not essential
- A valid UK driving licence
- Full eligibility to work in the UK
- Organised, problem solving, attention to detail
- Good communication skills and accuracy in record keeping
- Forklift user qualification preferred but not essential
Competitive based on experience between £23,000 - £27,000 per annum
