Vine Care UK has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Vineyard Operations Manager to join our expanding operations team.
For over 15 years, Vine Care UK has built a strong reputation within English viticulture, supporting vineyards across the UK through practical expertise, trusted consultancy and contract vineyard services. Continued growth in both our client base and service offering means we are strengthening our operational team to support the next phase of the business.
We are looking for a motivated, organised and personable individual who is confident working with clients, leading teams and delivering consistently high standards across multiple vineyard sites.
We are a practical, collaborative team that values experience, sound judgement and a willingness to get involved at every level of vineyard operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise directly with clients and advise on vineyard management strategies
- Undertake disease and nutrient deficiency scouting and vineyard assessments
- Provide remote advice through our Remote Vineyard Consultancy service
- Lead vineyard labour teams, ensuring work of the highest standard is delivered efficiently
- Schedule work programmes for labour teams and machine operators across multiple locations
- Organise and manage spray programmes and maintain chemical inventories
- Assist in coordinating harvest operations
- Organise machinery movements and oversee maintenance and repairs
- Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and safe working practices
- Represent Vine Care UK, The Vineyard Store and The Grape Exchange when required, including attendance at trade events
Working Environment
The role involves working across multiple vineyard locations and includes:
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Travel between client sites
- Seasonal intensity during spraying and harvest periods
- Occasional requirement to adapt plans at short notice depending on weather and vineyard conditions
This role would suit someone comfortable balancing hands-on vineyard work with client responsibility and operational decision-making.
Requirements
- Minimum three years’ experience working in a cool climate vineyard in a position of responsibility
- PA1, PA2 & PA3 certification
- Strong organisational ability
- Ability to adapt plans at short notice
- Ability to diagnose disease and nutrient deficiencies
- Confident communicator with strong professional presence
- Experience leading and managing teams
- Full UK driving licence
- Competent use of MS Office
- Right to live and work in the UK
Desirable Experience
- BASIS Certificate
- IOSH qualification
- Experience towing trailers
- Practical experience carrying out machinery repairs and maintenance
Reports to: Managing Director
Salary: £42,500 – £47,500 depending on experience and qualifications, with scope to reflect the right candidate.
Holiday: 30 days per annum plus bank holidays
