York Wines
York Wines is a long-established, Independent Wine Merchant in North Yorkshire. The business has over 200 wholesale customers who we deliver to weekly, covering an approximately 50 mile radius. We also have a retail shop and a growing online sales arm.
Job Description
We are looking to fill one full time post. The post will encompass all aspects of the day to day running of the business, as well as ultimately, deputising for the owners of York Wines as required. Regular hours will be Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30 and one Saturday in four (10:30-18:30). There will also be the requirement to occasionally cover until 18:30 and to attend/run evening tastings for customers. Core elements of the job include:

Customer relations – contacting customers, advising them, and taking orders by telephone and email and issuing invoices using Sage Software (full training given)

Stock control – monitoring stock levels, ordering new stock and receiving deliveries (approx. 500 cases per week) to our warehouse

Website – day to day updating of the York Wines website, including ensuring the product catalogue is up to date maximising online sales

Sales – assistance at all levels in the maintenance and expansion of sales and marketing

Retail – serving and advising customers, monitoring stock levels in the shop and restocking as required, and creating displays and promotions

Tasting – regular wine tasting in order to taste new vintages of our current wines and to select new wines for our portfolio

Driving – driving our light vans and making occasional deliveries and visits to customers
The Person
We are looking for a self-driven, highly motivated person who is happy to muck in, who has the following attributes:

Over 18 years old

Good communication skills, an ability to get on with people and deal with customers

Good numerical and computer skills, including being proficient in all Microsoft Office programmes

Educated to degree level or equivalent

Experience in an office environment – desirable not essential

A clean driving licence

An interest and desire to expand your knowledge of wine

Some aspects of the job are physically strenuous so it is essential that you are able to cope with this and are able to lift cases of wine up to 18kg
• Starting salary of £20,500 to be reviewed annually
