Oxney Organic Estate is looking for vineyard operator to join the team.
Oxney Organic Estate is a 14 hectare organic vineyard near Rye in East Sussex (Kent borders). The vineyard was first established in 2012 with further plantings in 2013, 2014 and 2018 and is now the UK’s largest single estate organic vineyard. Production is focused on sparkling wine but we have also made some still wines which have receive many accolades. The vineyard is part of a large farming estate with farms in Sussex and Kent, plus a well-developed agri tourism business.
The work would include the following – working on his/her own or as part of a team:
Hand work (pruning/pulling out, tying down (using Pellenc tying down machines), shoot selection/bud rubbing, trellising repair, inplanting, tending young vines)
Tractor operations (mowing, weeding, leaf trimming and removal, spraying)
Record keeping – stock control and vineyard data collection
Experience driving a tractor a real advantage. PA1/3 a plus but we can sponsor you. Full driving licence.
The right aptitude is essential. Experience is a benefit - but we can also train you. Role suitable for those that are happy spending 100% of their time outside here in our gorgeous vineyard in a physically demanding job. There will be some evening/week-end work, especially around harvest and when time allows helping in the winery with riddling, disgorging, labelling, bottling. For the right candidate there is the opportunity to be involved in tours and tastings.
