Reporting to – Head Winemaker
Job Description – Overview
New Hall Wine Estate (NHWE), located in the Crouch Valley, Essex was founded in 1969 and is one of England’s oldest vineyards covering 120 acres.
NHWE specialises in a range of fresh, aromatic still white, red and rose wines and small batches of traditional method sparkling wine and offers a unique opportunity to gain experience with multiple varietals.
The Harvest Cellar Hand will be supervised by the Senior Winemaking team throughout the duration of their time at New Hall Wine Estate. With a new Head Winemaker, this is an exciting time to join the team.
The role will be extremely practical and hands-on, completing a wide range of duties as part of a team or independently while under supervision. The successful candidate will support and become a key member of the winemaking team during a critical, busy period.

· Very strong attention to detail with internal motivation for accuracy, efficiency and cleanliness.
· Previous cellar experience of a minimum of 1 vintage essential.
Responsibilities – Including but not limited to
· Pre harvest deep cleaning and equipment preparation.
· Berry sampling and analysis.
· Fruit receival (loading/emptying presses, sanitation of processing equipment).
· Pumps and lines set up, cleaning and sanitation.
· Tank cleaning and sanitation.
· Racking & transfers.
· Enrichment and de-acidification operations.
· Inoculations.
· Additions.
· Pump overs/punch downs.
Compliance & Maintenance
Maintaining a safe, clean and tidy working environment – perform key sanitation procedures during winery operations. Complying with all NHWE H&S regulations.
Start date: late August 2023

Competitive hourly rate
