Wiston Estate Winery is a multi award-winning winery set in the heart of the South Downs.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Harvest Assistant Winemaker to join our winery team for the 2026 vintage. This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in all stages of harvest and winemaking within one of England's leading contract winemaking facilities.
At Wiston Estate Winery we are passionate about producing outstanding wines for both our own brands and our clients. Working with fruit sourced from vineyards across the country gives us a unique perspective on the English harvest and creates an exciting, dynamic working environment.
The Harvest Assistant Winemaker will work closely with our winemaking team, supporting all aspects of harvest operations from fruit reception through to fermentation management. This is an ideal role for someone looking to further their winemaking career and gain exposure to a wide range of varieties, wine styles and winemaking techniques.

Daily tasks include:
- Fruit intake assessment and processing
- Press loading and operation
- Juice and wine transfers
- Fermentation monitoring and management
- Yeast inoculations and wine additions
- Tank and equipment cleaning and sanitation
- Sampling and record keeping
- Assisting with racking, blending and general cellar operations
- Supporting winery logistics and harvest organisation
Our harvest usually lasts approximately 4–8 weeks, commencing in mid-to-late September. Working hours will vary according to fruit arrivals and flexibility, including evening and weekend work, will be required during busy periods.
You must be able to work in the UK. Due to our location, your own transport and accommodation are essential. In your application, please indicate your full-time availability, including preferred start and end dates.
