Summer & Harvest in an English Vineyard
An opportunity to spend 6 months working as a General Assistant in a beautiful boutique vineyard, getting involved in all aspects of grape growing, wine production and hospitality.
Nutbourne is a long established, single estate vineyard and farm near Pulborough in West Sussex. It has been run by the Gladwin family since 1991. We use regenerative farming techniques, carefully balancing our activities with care for the environment. 10 hectare of the land is under vine and all aspects of wine production take place onsite in our winery. Throughout the Summer, visitors come to enjoy the unique setting, our exceptional hospitality and taste and buy our award winning wines.
Each year the vineyard takes on assistants for the Summer season, from May to October.
Our General Assistants help with all aspects of the vineyard operation. This includes hosting the winery cellar door and assisting with tours & events, as well as bottling and labelling in the winery and working out in the vines. Our team members work approximately 35 hours per week over 5 days, including most Saturdays throughout the Summer. The job will culminate in the grape harvest in late September/October - this is a fantastic time of year, hard work but highly rewarding.
Knowledge of wine and/or a qualification in Viticulture is an advantage, but more important is enthusiasm to become part of our motivated, hard working small team. Previous General Assistants have gone on to permanent roles in the London wine trade, joined other UK producers or travelled to work in other wine regions around the world.
This is great opportunity to experience all aspects of an English vineyard business, working at the forefront of the UK industry.
Please note that employees will be expected to find and pay for their own accommodation in the local area. Full responsibilities and details of the role will be discussed at interview.
£500 a week
