Northern UK Sales Manager (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Gusbourne is a leading premium English wine producer, with an uncompromising approach to every aspect of the business. With 90 hectares under vine, we only produce wine from grapes we grow ourselves.


We are seeking to strengthen our UK commercial team with a highly motivated individual who has relevant experience which includes selling across all channels of the trade.

This is a rare opportunity to join a luxury sparkling wine brand and help forge the future of Gusbourne and the English Sparkling Wine Category.


We are looking for an experienced and inspiring individual with connections across the northern UK prestige off and on trade to join a close knit and highly committed team. The successful candidate should be based within the North of England or Southern Scotland.


Reporting to Head of Sales, main responsibilities in brief:

Maintaining existing direct relationships with luxury retail, wine merchants and on trade accounts in a given geographical area, through regular communication and site visits. 

Prospecting and converting new opportunities, which are appropriate to the Gusbourne brand. This should include luxury retail, independent merchants, direct on trade, prestige caterers, etc

Identify any national trade opportunities which are appropriate to the Gusbourne brand and assisting the team in any efforts to secure that business.

Providing ongoing support to the above through a thorough and well managed process of staff training, on site tasting, and tutored tastings, as the role develops.

Ensuring that monthly sales outcomes in the region are met or exceeded whilst maintaining the goals and aspirations set out for the brand.


Providing support to company and brand wide activities, both direct and indirect, under the direction of Head of Sales.

Helping to organise and support trade shows and events. 

Supporting trade winery visits when clients are visiting the vineyard.

Supporting direct sales events as necessary.



This would be a Northern UK-based sales role. Working within a small professional team, the applicant would also understand the flexibility required to support all sales channels on a regular basis. Regular UK travel would be expected.


Broad requirements:

  • WSET level 3 or Plumpton graduate and 1-2 years relevant sales experience (possibly including working with Champagne)
  • Organised and methodical
  • Self starter
  • Good network in Northern UK on and off trade
  • Capable of representing a luxury brand as a key ‘face’ of Gusbourne
  • Central Northern ‘Power House’ counties based
  • Driving licence, own transport
