Job Title: General Assistant

Package:  £9.20 per hour. Average 37 hours per week.  Pension contribution. 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays. Some weekend work required.

The Business: New Hall Vineyards is a family run, medium sized winery and vineyard, located in the heart of rural Essex.  We have been operating for over 50 years and pride ourselves on our strong customer relations and commitment to our products.  We have a well-established network of wine sales through various avenues, as well as hosting tours and contract winemaking.

Job Summary:  We are looking for a new member of staff to join our team to assist with all aspects relating to preparation of the wine once bottled through to the final end point sale.  The role is very varied, from labelling/packaging to dealing directly with our customers.  It is a manual role and can sometimes be quite repetitive at seasonal peaks.

A large part of this role is also looking after our leasing scheme for the first part of the year. 

The successful candidate will be given training in all aspects of the job however they must be physically fit and capable of lifting up to 12kg on a regular basis.

This position is a fantastic opportunity to become involved in the exciting and expanding UK Wine industry.  The role would be for a well-rounded individual who enjoys a varied job and working as part of a small team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

·        Admin of our leasing Scheme and liaising with our Leaseholders.

·        Communication by phone and email with all customers and clients.

·        Taking and compiling orders.

·        Serving customers in our cellar shop.

·        Assisting with general production tasks such as labelling/stock management.

·        Helping with annual events and tours.

·        Compliance with Health and Safety requirements and adhering to company policies.

·        Willingness to complete additional tasks under supervision of a department manager.

Required Attributes:

·        Ability to work alone and in a team with a strong work ethic and self-motivation.

·        Physically capable – lifting and moving wine/pallets.

·        Previous customer relations experience.

·        Excellent organisation and communication skills, both written and oral.

·        Problem solving skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise multiple tasks.

·        Proficient Computer skills, especially MS Word, Publisher and Excel, Sage experience beneficial.

·        Have flexibility with additional hours when required during peak periods.

Beneficial Qualifications and Skills:

·        Candidates must obtain under their own accord a valid permit to work in the UK if required.

·        First Aid and Forklift driving qualifications/experience desired (training can be provided).

·        Clean UK Driving license preferable but not essential.
