Pinglestone Estate Ltd are pleased to offer a vacancy for the position of Vineyard Supervisor.
We are looking for a highly motivated vineyard supervisor to join the vineyard team at Pinglestone Estate in Hampshire UK.
Pinglestone Estate is the latest project of the Vranken-Pommery Monopole Group. A forward thinking, quality driven wine producer. Our vineyards, planted from 2017 onward, are being established at our 40ha site in Alresford, Hampshire. We grow grapes exclusively for the Louis Pommery England sparkling wine brand, focusing on best practice viticulture in the production of world class sparkling wine grapes.
Working with and directly reporting to the Vineyard Manager you will be involved in all aspects of the viticulture program. Duties will include:
Vineyard Tractor operations (mowing, leaf trimming, leaf removal, spreading, ploughing, inter cep work, plant protection etc).
Site maintenance, upkeep of the site – headlands, borders, gates, windbreak management, work with flowers and plants in eco-friendly zones. Vineyard trellis repairs/maintenance. Strimming work.
Operations and data collection within the IPM strategy including the implementation after training of the crop protection program, Insect monitoring, nutritional evaluation and disease identification. Organic weed control operations and habitat creation for beneficial insects.
Assist in supervision of our vineyard worker teams. For groups of between 5 and 50 people. Working with and communicating key technical methods of execution for vineyard hand work during the season (Pruning, tying, frost protection, shoot selection, green harvest, fruit zone work, vendange etc) all aspects of canopy management selected within the seasonal program.
Tractor and equipment maintenance, workshop work, maintaining a high level of servicing for our machinery and equipment.
Harvest and key stage Data collection. Assisting the vineyard manager in collecting and recording vineyard data through the season and at harvest.
Some evening/night work will be required during our frost protection program in spring and at harvest time in the autumn. This is a physically demanding role with 90% of the work outdoors or operating farm machinery at the vineyard.
Although experience is a benefit, training will be given to the right candidate in all aspects of our vineyard philosophy and practices.
UK Driver’s license mandatory.
