Harrow & Hope is a small, family-run certified organic vineyard and winery producing traditional method English Sparkling Wine. We are looking for a motivated, hands-on Operations Assistant to join our friendly, flexible team and support both vineyard and winery. This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, learning new skills, and being part of a passionate team that takes pride in producing exceptional wines.
As a Vineyard Operator, you will support all aspects of vineyard operations — from pruning and canopy management to tractor work — while also assisting in all winery operations. Working closely with both the Vineyard Manager and Winemaker, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of practical tasks in both the vineyard and winery.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tractors for vineyard tasks including weed control, spraying, topping, grass cutting, vine trimming, fertiliser additions, sub-soiling, and mulching.
- Maintain accurate spray logs and ensure all machinery is in good working condition.
- Transport equipment between vineyard sites.
- Support manual vineyard tasks such as pruning, wire lifting, leaf pulling, and frost protection (including occasional night shifts).
- Assist in winery operations — including all harvest operations, wine handling, filtration, bottling, loading riddling cages and disgorging.
- Oversee and run the labelling operations.
- Help maintain estate appearance through weeding, sweeping, and light maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas.
- Follow all health and safety requirements.

- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

- A proactive team player with great attention to detail and a positive attitude.
- Flexible and willing to work extended hours during busy periods (especially at harvest).
Desirable skills:
- Experience operating tractors or vineyard/farming machinery.
- PA1 and PA3 spraying qualifications.
- Equipment maintenance and repair experience.
- Trailer licence.
