The Vineyard Manager will work closely with the property owner Michael Caines MBE DL to manage an outstanding 11 acre estuary vineyard site in Devon planted with Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay for the production of high quality sparkling wine. The successful candidate will have full responsibility for the vineyard and this hands-on role requires a high degree of self-motivation and dedication to generating continuous improvements.

In the vineyard & grounds, duties would include:
- All aspects of viticultural work, in and around the 11 acre vineyard site
- Supervision of occasional contract labour (including arranging accommodation), pruning, tying down, bud rubbing, leaf stripping, tucking in, shoot thinning and harvesting
- Vine nutrition, fertilisers, disease protection within the vineyard
- Overseeing all aspects of the annual harvest to include managing the picking team and liaising with the winery
- All tractor operations and using the associated vineyard equipment
· To assist the Estate Manager with all aspects of basic ground care maintenance outside the vineyard growing season on our 28 acre property.
Preferred/essential qualifications and skills include:
- Qualified viticultural background and experience in managing contracted workers
- Experience of managing the annual vineyard budget
- At least 2 years tractor driving with PA1 (essential) and ideally both PA2 and PA3 pesticide spraying tickets
- Experience in working with the key vineyard support team (agronomist, viticulturist and winemaker)
- Full eligibility to work in the UK and a valid UK driving licence
- Good communication skills and accuracy in record keeping
