THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a new role for Hallgarten and we are looking for someone with a passion for management of product quality. Experience of working in wine is preferred as you will need to understand production methods. If you have wine qualifications, then this is beneficial but not essential. Previous successful experience in Supplier Approval Processes and Audit as well as maintaining a Quality Management System in similar role is required. We expect you to be extremely competent in Microsoft Office and confident when learning new online portals. The successful candidate will determine the management of product quality, safety, legal and authenticity requirements for all off and on-trade products including retailer own brands in a standalone role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accountable for ensuring internal Supplier Approval Processes are adhered to and associated records are kept up to date.
• Accountable for ensuring relevant specifications are in place for each own label or own brand product. For retailer brands this would include using the relevant online portals.
• Accountable for reviewing and updating the Quality Management System Codes or Practise, Procedures and other documents according to the schedule or whenever there is a relevant change within the business or legislation.
• Accountable for coordinating and ensuring records are maintained for customer complaints including trending, root cause analysis and liaison with producers.
• Testing the Recall Procedure annually and conducting traceability tests as required.
• Ensuring finished products are authentic and match their analytical and packaging specifications through records, analytical testing and visual inspection.
• Ensuring all Global Food Safety Initiative GFSI certified suppliers send their current certificate/s and where appropriate uncertified suppliers work towards GFSI certification.
• Ensuring retailer requirements including supplier site audits and Agent and Broker audits are completed on time and corrective actions are closed within the given time frame.
• Accountable for the review of pre-shipment samples and reviewing against technical and packaging specifications.
• Attending first productions as required or set up the procedure for sourcing third party.
• Attending relevant Technical Committee meetings and keeping the business informed of relevant issues. (WSTA, plastic packaging tax, EPR)
• Ensuring the business is aware of and adhering to all relevant legislation relating to wine with procedures and policies are kept up to date.
• Accountable for the coordinating ethical and sustainability issues and requirements both internally and from customers.
• Accountable for the maintenance of records of organic wines and liaison with the UK registered organic control authority (OF&G), including annual audit
• Develop knowledge of HACCP across relevant departments
• Develop and maintain Supplier Charter
• Undertake ad hoc projects and join project teams as required, for example ISO90001

REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail will be fundamental to this role
• Wine technical knowledge including production methods and analytical parameters would be required
• Supply Chain knowledge and/or SEDEX
• BRC Auditor preferred, but if not prepared to undertake
• Commercially aware and adaptable
• Confidence to continuously challenge the methods of working to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Willingly to impart knowledge and able to influence others
• Experienced in managing and preparing for Supplier and Agent and Broker audits
• Experience of Auditing Quality Management System Codes or Practise, Procedures
• Knowledge and experience of HACCP and GFSI benchmarked food safety standards (such as BRCGS Food, IFS, and FSSC 22000) as well as BRC Agents & Brokers), would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of ISO standards and Health & Safety
• This role requires some travel around the country and overseas

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This role is based in our Head Office in Capability Green, Luton working in a hybrid way. You will be expected to attend customer sites in the UK and abroad so there is travel involved.
