The Role..
As Venus is such diverse company, the ideal candidate will need to be self motivated, commercially astute, driven and ambitious. A comprehensive understanding of the On Trade, Cash and Carry and Retail markets will be required in order to build on existing relationships and form new strategic partnerships. Utilising existing resources and innovating new systems, the successful candidates will play a pivotal role in the success of their departments.
Numerate, analytical and strong negotiators, the candidate will be expected to work effectively both on their own and as part of a team enabling the business to remain at the forefront of the industry.
Based at our head office in London, the buyer will be given the opportunity to shape the future of the business and will be rewarded appropriately.
Wine Buyer..
Candidates should be educated to WSET Diploma level, have experience of wine buying in the UK market and knowledge of at least one other language would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will have..
- 5+ years Wine buying experience
- WSET Diploma or relevant winemaking qualification
- An extensive knowledge of wine from tank sample through to finished bottle
- A comprehensive knowledge of Old World and New World wine regions
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Excellent practical knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel
- Well-organised and able to work to tight deadlines and to deal with multiple projects
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Creative thinker who has clear ideas about how to sell wine through different channels of trade
