We are seeking a dedicated and organised Administrator to join the HG Wines team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience in the wine industry and a deep understanding of its unique demands. This role is crucial in maintaining our administrative operations with efficiency and precision, ensuring smooth business operations. French language skills would be of benefit.
HG Wines, trading as St. JOHN Wines, part of the St. JOHN Restaurant Group, specialises in importing exclusive wines into the UK market and supplying premium wines to the UK on-trade market. Our commitment to quality and service, underpinned by the esteemed reputation of the St. JOHN brand, positions us uniquely in the wine industry.

The role reports into the Head of Beers, Wines & Spirits and has the following responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive administrative support across various departments, including procurement, sales, and logistics.
• Maintain and manage efficient filing systems and document control.
• Coordinate and prepare essential import documentation.
• Act as a point of contact for suppliers and clients, ensuring excellent communication and service.
• Assist in inventory management and stock control.
• Handle order taking and processing, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Support in organising wine tastings and industry events aligned with the St. JOHN ethos.
• Handle general office tasks, such as answering phones, managing email correspondence, and data entry.
• Assist in other areas of the business as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a team-oriented approach.

Ideal skills & experience required are:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the wine industry.
• Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• A proactive “can-do” attitude, adaptable to various business areas.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Grasp of the French language is advantageous.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK.
