This could be a wonderful opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, charismatic, hard-working senior bar person with an eye for detail to take responsibility for the bar department in this private members’ sailing club in London’s West End.
Candidates must be available to start this permanent full-time, hands-on role from end of October/early November and will act as the deputy to the Club’s House Manager in the evenings.
Responsibilities
The Head Barman, with their strong knowledge and experience of running bars (including cellar management) and some restaurant experience, will ensure a high level of bar standards and service delivery over the regular lunch-time and evening service Monday to Thursday and a lunch-only service on Fridays.
As a hands-on Head of Department your core responsibilities and duties will include, but will not be limited to:
· Interpreting the demands of the Club ensuring that the agreed service staffing levels are provided at the scheduled times and with the full range of products and services
· Effective planning, organising and control of the bar operations accordingly
· Liaising with House Manager regarding all bookings and be proactive in eliminating any potential problems from future business, ensuring customer satisfaction is maximised and opportunities for repeat custom are exploited.
· Being a figurehead in the bar and front of house areas ensuring the presentation and housekeeping in these areas meet with the standards expected by the Club
· Financial accountability to achieve budgeted GP% through ensuring correct charging via the till system
· Working closely to the House Manager in keeping a tight control of stock levels/rotation and ensuring effective ordering for the bar and managing waste
· Supervising, developing and training staff
· Procurement of bar stock and maintaining stock levels
· Hygiene, Health & Safety Compliance
Experience and Skills
To be considered for this role you will have held a senior bar position for at least 2 years in a recognisable high quality, widely reviewed 4-5 star hotel, restaurant or Club. In addition, you must have the following key skills and qualities:
· Good knowledge off wines/drinks with proven track record
· Professional with a desire to please demonstrating pride in work
· A high standard of personal presentation
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and staff training skills
· Ability to work under pressure with a strong work ethic
· Confident and professional approach with fellow staff, members/guests of the Club and the Clubs Management Committee

The successful candidate will enjoy:
· Excellent gross salary of @ £3,167 per month
· Regular Friday night and weekends off

· Annual bonus on achieving objectives
· 4 weeks annual holiday to be taken during Club closure periods (3 weeks in August, 1 week Christmas and long Easter Weekend)
