Speciality Drinks is the organiser of The Whisky Show, one of the largest whisky shows in Europe, The Whisky Show Old & Rare and The Cognac Show. Alongside these key events, the team assist in many of the smaller spirits events across the UK.  Reporting to the Events manager and Events Coordinator, the Events Assistant will support in the organising and execution of all events for The Whisky Exchange and provide support where required for Elixir Distillers and Speciality Drinks.

Due to business requirements, it is expected that the role holder will need to have a high degree of flexibility in order to meet the demands of the role. Therefore, it may be necessary to work out of normal working hours due to the nature of the projects, and in order to meet the necessary demands of our client base. The role holder must be able to adjust to a broad and fluid set of tasks as requirements change in this progressive company.

Overall objective of Role

The fundamental purpose of this job is to support in the organising and execution of all events for the Whisky Exchange and all subsidiary companies of the Speciality Drinks Group

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Events Team to organise all large scale events.
  • Work with the Events Team to organise other tasting activities both internally and externally.
  • Lead the organisation of all shop tasting events, including writing content for newsletters and managing brands and customers to ensure the smooth running of event.
  • Working with both large and small brands and agencies ahead of every event to ensure we have all the information required.
  • Work the events with the Events Team to ensure smooth running of the operation.
  • Update and maintain budgets together with the Events Team.
  • Work with Supply Chain and Accounts Team to arrange ingoing and outgoing stock orders for all events, ensuring that each event balances.
  • Communicate with other parts of the business such as the warehouse, finance, supply chain etc to ensure company processes are followed and smooth running of events.
  • Work with suppliers and exhibitors to activate social media plans for all internal channels.
  • Represent the company in a professional and friendly manner at all times.
  • Manage social media channels, generating more traffic and conversation with our customers on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Grow following on social media channels through active engagement and relevant content.
  • Ensure whiskyshow.com and cognacshow.com is kept up to date.
  • Produce content for event websites and for newsletters.
  • Support Events Team with administration surrounding all shows and events.
  • Support Events Team with sourcing materials and information for events.

  • Whisky or premium spirits experience from retail or similar.

  • Project management skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong spirits knowledge. WSET advanced certificate desirable.
  • Numerate and literate.
  • Good presentation skills.
