Accounts all-rounder (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Full Time

  Clark Foyster Wines Ltd (http://www.clarkfoysterwines.co.uk)

  London, England

About us

We are a small specialist wine importer with an eclectic portfolio. We buy all our wines directly from the producers, mostly in Europe, and have an enviable reputation for the quality of our wines and for the service we give our customers.  Our customers include top Michelin starred restaurants as well as independent retailers, national chains and private collectors.  We’re based in West London.

The role

We are looking for an accounts generalist to join our small team in a key role.  You will be assisting our Financial Director with all aspects of our finance function. Your main responsibilities will be posting sales and purchase invoices, allocating payments and receipts and running bank reconciliations.  You will also be involved in all aspects of credit control; from running checks to setting up new accounts, to collecting late payments. You will be assisting with the quarterly VAT returns and with the year end accounts. You will be processing employee expenses and reconciling these on a monthly basis.  You will also be involved in all aspects of financial reporting and with developing and implementing pricing models. This is a very varied role and an opportunity to make your mark in a successful and growing business.

Skills and experience

You must have previous accounting experience and ideally you will have experience of a stock-based business. The main programmes we use are Sage Line 50 and Microsoft 365 and you should be confident with Excel.

You will be able to demonstrate a logical analytical mind, but you also need to show a practical approach to problems and good commercial acumen.

You need to be an excellent communicator in spoken and written English. People skills are very important - you need to be adaptable and tactful but also assertive when the situation demands it.

You need to be highly organised and good at managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

You need to be equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team. You need to have initiative but you also need to recognise when you need support or advice.

What’s on offer?
A competitive salary based on experience plus the opportunity to participate in our company bonus scheme. We are open to varying levels of previous experience and the salary will reflect this, but the bottom end of the scale would be £28,000.
Possibility of sponsored training for career development.
The usual pension, holidays, staff discounts on wine.
