Title: Account Manager                

Reporting to: Head of Independents Sales   

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Location: London and the South East. Home based working is an option.

 

We’re looking for a passionate and dynamic Account Manager to join our growing business. You’ll be living and breathing our wines, working with our fantastic customers to drive sales and develop initiatives that keep pushing us forward as a business.

 

What’s the job entail?

Primarily your role will be selling wine. Working within our Independent and Wholesale team, you will need to develop existing accounts and build new business within a given territory.

You will need to use your excellent knowledge of our wine portfolio to find the right solutions for your customers (and their customers).

A good level of wine knowledge as well as some sales experience will give you a distinct advantage, but really we’re looking for passion.

You’ll need to take part in customer tastings, events and trips where necessary. You’ll also spend a decent amount of your time on the road, visiting customers and building relationships, so you’ll need a degree of flexibility in the hours and location of your work. If you’re looking for a 9-5 desk job then this really isn’t for you.

Part of your role will be negotiating and agreeing pricing and deals with customers, so a decent commercial acumen and an ability to negotiate will come in handy.

 

What kind of person are we looking for?

Ask yourself these questions first before reading further:

1)      When I’m at a party and I see someone on their own, do I go and strike up a conversation?

2)      If I had the choice between selling someone something I know isn’t right for them and hitting my budget, or honestly telling them it’s a mistake and missing my budget, what would I choose?

3)      Do I put an empty carton of milk back in the fridge?

Boutinot have a strong wine portfolio and a committed sales team who develop business by building relationships and understanding customer needs.  If ‘a sale at any cost’ is your credo you won’t get on and if you are lazy you’ll very soon be found out. You’ve got to be a team player and you’ve got to truly care about the people around you. Positive, aspirational and enthusiastic people who have a bit of wit, a bit of style and some quiet ambition to do a job to be proud of are welcome and will find that we are a fantastic place to be!  

 

So, if you would talk to the stranger at the party, if you’d rather be honest with a customer than prioritise your own success, and if you care enough not to leave empty milk in the fridge for your peers, then maybe you’re the right person for us.
