The Role
The Customer Marketing Controller is responsible for leading the UK & Ireland Customer Marketing Team to develop and execute ‘best in class’ trade marketing programmes, through effectively leveraging shopper insights and category management concepts, across all channels and customers.
Inherent in the role is the ability to support Sales by building solid customer / channel activation plans that win at point of purchase and ultimately drive improved customer relationships as well as sustainable, profitable growth for customer, category and Treasury Wine Estates (TWE).
The successful applicant will have responsibility for building an unrivalled understanding of shopper dynamics and behaviour in the wine category. This role is critical to delivering profitable and brand building TTL plans, aiding TWE EMEA sales.
This role is key in building total customer relationships as part of the UK&I Commercial Leadership Team, by developing an understanding of customer performance and how winning Customer Marketing programmes can drive profitable customer and category growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting and driving strategic direction of on-going TTL plans.
- Support business decision-making and strategic planning with relevant insights and analysis with brand and category planning including appropriate evaluation of Retailer Exclusives, Pricing and Promotion activity.
- Enhance the business’ understanding of the shopper and help bring the shopper to life through brand tracking, shopper research and trend analysis.
- Ensuring efficient and comprehensive budgetary control of spend with external and internal parties.
- Lead Customer Marketing team to develop and execute customer development plans by channel and account integrated with brand and trading/budget plans, working closely with brand and account teams.
- Leverage shopper insights to develop unique and relevant TTL activation.
- Build understanding of drivers of retailer profitability across the wine category.
- Manage Customer Marketing Team through gate process for all customer driven NPD.
- Manage all Customer Development budgets appropriately to maximise returns.
- Agency management (Nielsen, TNS, TLE) that will ensure cost efficiencies and the right agencies for the right brands
The Successful Applicant
- Extensive Trade Marketing / Sales / Account management experience with an understanding of Category Management concepts in FMCG
- Market analysis experience, preferably within an FMCG environment (wine industry desirable)
- Experience of working with ACNielsen software Nitro and some knowledge of TNS Superpanel data and space planning software desirable
- Excellent evaluative, analytical and interpretive skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Budgetary control
- Full UK driving licence
