The Role

This is a role based at our refurbished wine shop in Llanrwst.

“Y Siop Win” is a large specialist retail store that reopened September 2023 after a full refurbishment. Stocking over 1,000 wines alongside hundreds of Welsh beers and spirits our customers are both local members of the public and trade businesses whom we deliver to Wales-wide.

Applicants should be experienced and with enthusiasm and knowledge for wines (WSET Diploma level or equivalent) with an ability to communicate this knowledge clearly to customers.

Experience of beers and/or spirits as well as working in a retail setting is beneficial.

We host sellout wine tasting evenings, usually on a Friday evening and organising & coordinating these are also part of the role. June & July events include esteemed wineries Antinori and Catena Zapata.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Offer expert wine advice & recommendations in person, by email & phone to customers (both trade and members of the public)
  • Providing a high level of customer service to wine shop customers
  • Managing the appearance of Y Siop Win by
    • Updating the in-store and window displays on a regular basis
    • Ensuring incoming stock is put away timely manner
  • Managing stock in the wine shop by
    • Liaising with our warehouse team for timely stock
    • Ensuring accurate stock takes
    • Coordinating the update of pricing
    • Identifying any requested lines & liaising with appropriate buying team
  • Curating the marketing strategy for Y Siop Win by
    • Coordinating & organising wine tastings
    • Taking responsibility for the social media presence of the wine shop
    • Inputting into the regular e-mailings to our wine shop customers
