About
We are a contract winery in Ledbury, Herefordshire, offering contract wine and cidermaking, disgorging, and labelling.
We also make still and sparkling wine from our own vineyard under 1276 Wines (1276wines.co.uk) focussing on Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir Précoce and Bacchus.
A small team of 8 people in total, with 3 in the cellar, we are looking for a vintage cellar hand to assist in all winemaking processes throughout the 2026 vintage.
Role
- Vineyard maturity sampling
- Fruit reception, press loading, and emptying
- Lab juice and fermentation analysis
- Racking and transfers
- Inoculations, chaptalisations and additions
- Red ferment management – punch downs/pump overs
- Barrel prep and management
- Potential for production work including labelling, disgorging, riddling, and bottling
- Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and safety standards in the winery
The candidate should work well in a small team during a busy time of year and be adaptable to various tasks throughout harvest. Previous harvest experience beneficial but not necessary, with a desire to learn and work efficiently most important.
Applicants must have right to work in the UK and have a level of fitness to be on your feet for hours at a time and able to lift 25kg. Be flexible for 40+ hour work weeks, evening and weekend work.
