We have an exciting opportunity available for a Manufacturing Shift Manager to join our team based in Irlam, Manchester. This is a full time permanent role, working 42 hours per week on a 4 on/ 4 off 12 hour day shift pattern (6am-6pm)

The Manufacturing Shift Manager Role
The Manufacturing Shift Manager will be tasked with training and developing a flexible, multifunctional team to ensure the productive and efficient running of our high speed bottling hall: Hall B. The Manufacturing Shift Manager will effectively manage all personnel in their team, will provide a structure to the shift, and will ensure the high speed lines are productive, efficient, and meet the day to day requirements of the bottling program. The Manufacturing Shift Manager will contribute to the efficiency and non-productive targets of Hall B and will provide managerial support and key engineering resource to the shift. Due to the advanced technology in Hall B, the Manufacturing Shift Manager will ideally come from an engineering background with an electrical bias and PLC knowledge.
Key responsibilities as our Manufacturing Shift Manager will include:
- Ensuring product safety and quality at all times
- Continually reviewing Hygiene improvements
- Ensuring all CIP procedures are adhered to
- Delivering the Production plan whilst achieving efficiency and conformance targets
- Accurately diagnosing and correcting both mechanical and electrical faults
- Achieving Fixed Cost Targets
- Reporting the daily performance for each line
- Ensuring in house quality standards/targets are achieved and that all finished product packaging standards are made clear to the team
- Eliminating the root causes of any customer complaints
- Liaising with the Technical and Commercial functions to ensure customer requirements are fully defined and understood
- Ensuring each individual team member has clear development and training plans in line with the business needs
- Undertaking all aspects of man management to include: conducting appraisals/performance management reviews, disciplinary actions, training etc
- Developing and improving systems and procedures
- Assisting in the commissioning and implementation of new equipment, plant, and processes
- Identifying and delivering cost reduction opportunities
- Managing day to day costs. i.e.. labour, line performance
Skills required as our Manufacturing Shift Manager:
- Full indentured apprenticeship and/ or qualified engineer to HND level in an engineering discipline
- Electrical bias is preferred
- PLC Knowledge
- Certified in first line management ILM level 3 or equivalent as a minimum with 2 years experience of people management
- Health & Safety Qualification e.g.. IOSH Managing Safely Qualification
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office and SAP
- HACCP / VACCP / TACCP awareness
- Experience in the FMCG arena. Experience in the food and rinks industry would be particularly desirable
- A good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Basic Food Hygiene training- desirable
- Internal Auditing Qualifications- desirable
- Manual handling- desirable
- Ability to carry out basic Risk assessments- desirable
