Business Development Manager (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Lyme Bay are a growing drinks producer based in Devon, producing critically acclaimed English wines, ciders and other alcoholic beverages. We are looking for an entrepeneurial and ambitious BDM to join our team, with the added opportunity to help us shape our strategy for English wines and spirits within the on-premise sector.

Responsible for: Development of key account portfolio within the on-premise channel predominantly.


Reporting to: Head of on-trade

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing portfolio of customers ensuring agreed KPI’s are achieved
  • Increase distribution by growing existing business and gaining new distribution points
  • Develop and establish the English wines channel and also the wider product portfolio of spirits and liqueurs 
  • Schedule and execute communications to customers with field visits as and when required
  • Prepare and execute an agreed account plan for each major customer
  • Maintain and develop all customer information ensuring all relevant contact information and meeting/communication outcomes are documented and actioned in a timely fashion
  • Achieve targeted new business, ensuring clear process and communication is in place and followed
  • Support the company export operation as required
  • Provide regular, quality reporting and communication from the field regarding business performance and opportunities

  • Key/national account development
  • Account/market/product planning and execution
  • Industry knowledge and awareness across on-premise sector, with particular experience in wines and spirits desirable
  • Planning & Organising: Ability to plan, organise and execute activities under own initiative
  • Selling: Sell in a structured, disciplined and skilful manner and proven ability to sell and close
  • Communication: Express oneself in a clear, succinct and compelling manner in both individual and group situations
  • Business Awareness: Demonstrate a good understanding of own and customer’s business. Clear commitment to progress and develop
  • Good IT skills and PC literacy
  • Strong interpersonal skills/team player
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels
  • Adaptable, resilient and results driven.
