Highbury Vintners is an award winning independent wine merchant with over 1400 wines and a vast range of spirits and beer. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer service which has helped us secure a loyal customer base. We are looking for a driven, ambitious individual to join our growing company.
The perfect introduction to the wine industry, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your wine skills and learn every aspect of a wine business. After completion of our training programme, the right candidate will have the opportunity to advance their studies and undertake the WSET Level 4 Diploma.
In this role you will be customer facing and advising customers on everything from food pairing to wine tasting. You will also assist in every aspect of day-to-day store operations involving accepting deliveries, stock replenishment, preparing for tastings and other ad-hoc tasks.
You must be highly motivated, have a deep understanding of excellent customer service, commercial awareness as well as being friendly and approachable.
There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss wine with customers and broaden your tasting experience through in-store tastings (training, buying and customer tastings).
As an independent we are open to new ideas, leading to opportunities for job development for the right candidate. We are looking for innovative people with original ideas to help grow our sales and client base.
We have high expectations of our staff, and consequently we will pay above market rate for the right candidate.
Successful candidates will have:
- Previous experience in the service industry
- Passion for wine and desire to learn
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills – spoken and written
- WSET Level 2 minimum, but Level 3 preferred
- IT literacy (EPOS experience an advantage)
- UK resident and live within a reasonable travel time of Highbury
- Full clean driving licence
You must be physically fit, and the role involves regular evening and weekend work.
