Trainee Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

We are an award-winning merchant with over 1400 wines and a vast range of spirits and beer. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer service, which has helped us secure a loyal customer base.

This is an exciting time to join the team with plans for growth and increased investment as we add another shop site in the months ahead. We are looking for driven, ambitious individuals to join our team and help grow retail, wholesale and corporate sales.

The role: Trainee Manager

We will develop your sales skills as you learn about all aspects of a dynamic wine business. In this role you will be responsible for growing sales and assisting in every aspect of day-to-day store operations involving accepting deliveries, stock replenishment, wine tasting preparation and other ad-hoc tasks. You will gain training and experience in:

• Sales: How to sell wine confidently face-to-face, by phone, by email and through wine tasting
• WSET Level 4 Diploma Sponsorship after 6 months
• Stock and cellar management
• Logistics
• Merchandising and display
• Marketing: Wine writing and social media engagement
• Buying: Learn how to judge wine the right way in our team tastings

The Candidate

You must be highly motivated, have a deep understanding of excellent customer service, commercial awareness as well as being friendly and approachable. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss wine with customers and broaden your tasting experience through in-store tastings (training, buying and customer tastings). There will also be opportunities to visit some of our producers in Europe.

The role involves regular evening and weekend shifts over 40 hours per week. You must be eligible to work in the UK.
