(Wine Jobs:
Vineyards & Cellars )
Contract
Hattingley Valley Wines Ltd, Wield Yard, Lower Wield, Alresford, SO24 9RX,
England
The Company
Hattingley Valley, one of England’s leading multiple award-winning Sparkling Wine producers since 2008, is now starting to recruit Cellar Staff for the 2026 Vintage. We receive fruit from our own two vineyards, as well as growers across the South of England, and harvest from the end of September until the end of October. Although we make predominantly Sparkling Wine from the traditional varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier during harvest, we also work with Pinot Gris, Bacchus and Pinot Précoce. In certain years we may also make a small quantity of Dessert Wine using frozen grapes.
Major Responsibilities
During harvest work consists of forklifting, press loading, crate washing, racking, chaptalizing, yeast and malolactic inoculating, fermentation monitoring, barrel cleaning/filling, tank cleaning, drain cleaning, and scrubbing – all of which is standard winery harvest work. Throughout harvest, you will take part in some or all those tasks, often on the same day, as well as spending some limited time helping with disgorging and labelling work. The workload is consequently varied and never-ending, and we are seeking people to take on this harvest work with enthusiasm and a proactive attitude for all of it.
As a winery during harvest, we always try to expand the limits of our knowledge and increase wine quality for ourselves and for our clients. If you would like to come and help push those winemaking boundaries further and work in collaboration with all members of the Winery, please get in touch.
Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria:
- In possession of a work Visa / Right to Work in the UK.
- Those with previous harvest experience and a good reference to prove it.
- Forklift experience, with a licence / certification.
- A willingness to learn from us, as well as using your own knowledge, pragmatism, and experience.
- An enthusiastic can-do attitude, with real ability to work in a team.
- A valid UK driving licence is an essential requirement due to our rural location.
Please note that we are unable to sponsor Work Visa Applications.
To apply, applicants must already have the Right to Work in the UK. This realistically restricts our employment to UK Citizens or Residents, Irish Citizens, EU Citizens with settled or pre-settled status, and those on Working Holiday visas from certain countries. This list is neither definitive nor exhaustive and it will be up to applicants to prove they already have one of these Visa types, or confirm they are undertaking a UK Work Visa application process in time to meet harvest employment periods.
Please note that we may not reply to applications where Visa status is unclear.
