Hambledon Vineyard are seeking to employ a full time viticulture apprentice.
The apprenticeship is a two year course and is run by Plumpton College, based in East Sussex. ( https://www.plumpton.ac.uk/courses/crop-technician-viticulture-apprenticeship-level-3-445/ The successful candidate will be expected to travel to Plumpton College for 5 residential training blocks per year, each of 1 week duration. This is an advanced level apprenticeship leading to a level 3 qualification in crop production (viticulture)
Hambledon is England's oldest commercial vineyard with over 200 acres of vineyards, along with its state of the art gravity fed winery. This is a great opportunity to develop a career in vineyard management at one of the UK's leading vineyards/wineries
In conjunction with the Plumpton course the successful candidate will be working along side Hambledon's viticulturists and trained in the following:
Viticulture - Winter pruning, trellis maintenance, canopy management, crop spraying, vine trimming, fruit analysis and harvesting.
Winery - Although the apprenticeship is in viticulture, the successful candidate will also undertake duties in the winery including, grape processing, racking, cleaning, disgorging, bottling, labelling and packaging.
The ideal candidate will be self motivated with a strong work ethic. An adaptable, mature and professional attitude is also key.
A valid UK driving licence is essential.
Required qualifications: GCSE - Maths and English.
40 hours per week - Monday to Friday. (Some weekends / early starts)
Salary in line with apprenticeship pay scales.
