HARVEST SHIFT SUPERVISOR
(Wine Jobs:
Vineyards & Cellars )
Contract
Hampshire,
England
Hattingley Valley, one of England’s leading wine producers, is now starting to recruit Cellar Staff for the 2025 Vintage. We receive fruit from our own two vineyards, as well as growers across the South of England, and harvest from the end of September until the end of October. Although we make predominantly sparkling wine from the traditional varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier during harvest, we also work with Pinot Gris, Bacchus and Pinot Précoce. In certain years we may also make a small quantity of dessert wine using frozen grapes. Where vintage conditions have allowed us to, we have also made still wines with great results so far.
We require an experienced, proactive, detail-minded Harvest Shift Supervisor to oversee the harvest work of one of our shifts, to make sure that work is completed on time, with best practice, to standards as high as any other high-quality wine producing area. We make an expensive product, and we need a great Harvest Shift Supervisor to ensure we continue to do so during Harvest 2025.
During harvest work consists of forklifting, press loading, crate washing, racking, chaptalizing, yeast and malolactic inoculating, fermentation monitoring, barrel cleaning/filling, tank cleaning, drain cleaning, and scrubbing – all of which is standard winery harvest work, but requires considerable oversight and monitoring to make sure quality standards are consistent.
As a winery during harvest, we always try to expand the limits of our knowledge and increase wine quality for ourselves and for our clients. As Harvest Shift Supervisor, you will be closely integrated with the winemaking team and will be able to use your experience and insight to contribute to winemaking and harvest decisions. If you would like to come and be an integral part of exploring those winemaking boundaries, please get in touch.
Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Previous winery shift supervision experience and a good reference to prove it.
- In possession of a work Visa / right to work in the UK.
- Forklift, First Aid and Confined Space experience, with associated licences / certifications.
- A demonstrable, pragmatic understanding of harvest factors and harvest work patterns.
- Mechanical ability and background in a winery setting.
- A valid driving license for UK roads is an essential requirement due to our rural location.
Please note that we are unable to sponsor work visa applications.
To apply, applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. This realistically restricts our employment to UK Citizens or Residents, Irish Citizens, EU Citizens with settled or pre-settled status, and those on Working Holiday visas from certain countries. This list is neither definitive nor exhaustive and it will be up to applicants to prove they already have one of these visa types, or confirm they are undertaking a UK work visa application process in time to meet harvest employment periods.
Please note that we may not reply to applications where visa status is unclear.

We are in the depths of rural Hampshire, yet only an hour from London. If needed, we will find local accommodation for you in advance and we will also help with a contribution towards the cost. Where possible, we will also provide transport or car sharing. During harvest shifts, we always provide hot food and snacks.
In addition, each staff member receives a wine allowance and staff discount for further wine purchases.
