Cellar Hand/Supervisor - Halfpenny Green Wine Estate

Based in South Staffordshire between Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth, Halfpenny Green Wine Estate are looking to recruit up to two team members for Harvest 2023, with the scope for the role(s) to become permanent going into 2024.

Skills/qualities we’re looking for:

• Short-course qualifications or degree in Viticulture and Oenology (desirable)

• Previous cellar experience of at least 1 cool-climate harvest

• Strong problem solving skills and good attention to detail, ability to follow work orders and instructions essential

• Physically fit, with the ability to carry loads of 25kg+ and climb gantries and ladders

• The ability to use computers and IT comfortably, experience with winery software such as Innovint or Vintrace desirable

• Valid forklift license and experience

• Winery lab experience

• Driving licence and vehicle, due to rural location

• Flexibility to work up to 10 hours a day, 6 days a week during the main harvest period

• Legal right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.

Responsibilities – including but not limited to:

• Fruit receival (press loading and emptying)

• Racking and transfers

• Ferment inoculations, chaptalisation and nutrient additions

• Malolactic inoculations

• General cellar work

• Barrel handling

• Grape/juice and wine sampling and lab analysis

• Post-fermentation tasks, especially oxygen management

• Tank room hygiene
