The role: This is a varied and rewarding role for an experienced Viticulturist who wants to apply strong technical expertise across a diverse portfolio of UK vineyards. Working closely with the Vineyard Director and wider Viticulture team, the Viticulturist will help deliver client contracts across vineyard management, establishment and consultancy projects. The role requires sound cool-climate viticulture knowledge, flexibility to work across multiple sites, and the confidence to manage priorities and client relationships professionally. Key responsibilities will include:
• Multi-vineyard management.
• Technical viticulture consultancy and mentoring.
• Data collection and analysis, record keeping and report writing.
• Forecasting and budgeting for client vineyards.
• Designing timely, budget-conscious and environmentally sustainable vineyard work programmes.
• Continually improving clients’ vineyard productivity and sustainability, both environmentally and financially, through strong management techniques.
• Engaging fully with clients by providing clear verbal and written work programmes and advice, while maintaining a consistently high standard of customer service.
• Training, supervising and working with Technicians and Operatives during manual work.
• Undertaking some tractor work at peak times e.g. mowing, cultivating, spraying, trimming.
As well as the core requirements, set out above, as a team player you will be expected to undertake other ad-hoc work and engage fully with other business activities.
Applicant skills and qualifications:
We are seeking an energetic and passionate candidate who demonstrates excellent practical and technical viticulture experience and has strong planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
This role demands a high degree of flexibility, motivation, professionalism, and dedication. It is designed for a person who truly wants to add value and understands the importance of credibility, reliability, and high-end service provision.
• 8-years minimum cool-climate vineyard management.
• A formal viticulture qualification or significantly more experience.
• Personable, passionate, confident and a desire to learn and advance your career.
• Comfortable managing clients and staff.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• A strong work ethic and willingness to travel.
• Full clean driver's license.
• Competent tractor operator, including spraying (PA1, 2 & 3 licenses preferable)
• Good IT and mobile application skills.
• Eligible to work in the UK.
Reporting to: Viticulture Director
Location: East Anglia
The role is based primarily at client sites across the UK, predominantly in East Anglia, with the remainder of time spent in the Dorking office or working from home. Significant UK travel will be required.
