Wine Down is an independent wine merchant based in the centre of Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man. We also have a busy wine bar and restaurant business running alongside.
The Isle of Man is a self-governing crown dependency situated in the Irish Sea. It is easily accessible to the UK with regular flights to London, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham and daily boat services to Cumbria. The population is 85,000, almost half of whom live in the capital. It is an extremely safe place to live, ideal for families, and a great place to live if you enjoy sport. There are 8 golf courses, numerous football and hockey clubs, plus plenty of cycling and running clubs. The income tax is considerably lower, standard of living is high and the education system is very good, without exception.
We are seeking a presentable, warm and friendly, energetic and enthusiastic Retail Manager with WSET Award Level 2 or equivalent. Exceptional personal customer service is essential in all departments of our business and the successful applicant will have the natural ability to advise customers with knowledge, passion and confidence. You will also be called upon to advise on wine and food pairing in the restaurant so a flexible attitude is essential. A full clean driving license is also necessary.
Other responsibilities include:
§ Managing day-to-day stock levels in the shop
§ Keeping the store clean, tidy and welcoming
§ Uploading new products to our website and keeping pricing accurate
§ Liaising with trade customers
§ Picking and invoicing wholesale orders
§ Promoting and helping to organise WSET courses
§ Running wine shop events and tastings
§ Assisting with the restaurant wine list and serving wine / food
§ Occasional deliveries
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 depending on qualifications and experience
40 hour week over 5 days
