Wine Development Manager (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

This is a full-time, Wine Sales role based at Templar Wines Ltd in Poole. You will be a part of a small team in pursuit of wine excellence. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with on-trade clients, including restaurants, bars, and pubs, through regular visits, calls, and follow-ups. Day-to-day tasks include presenting the wine portfolio, advising on selections that match each venue’s menu and clientele, and supporting clients with wine list design and updates.

The person in this role will provide basic wine education and food pairing guidance to client teams, coordinate orders, monitor stock needs, and ensure timely delivery in collaboration with the depot. The role also includes managing a restaurant client portfolio, identifying new business opportunities in Dorset and the New Forest, meeting sales targets, and representing Templar Wines at tastings, events, and other promotional activities.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Wine and Sales skills, with experience in on-trade or wine sales preferred.
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate commercial acumen in the HORECA sector and be able to give advice on wine range, profitability and what make a succesful on trade business
  • Candidates should possess Wine Education knowledge, ideally supported by WSET level 3 or above or similar Sommelier qualifications, and an ability to explain wine and food pairing clearly.
  • Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service skills, with a client-focused approach and the ability to build long-term relationships.
  • Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including confident presentation abilities and clear written and verbal communication along with good mathematical reasoning.
  • Your commercial acumen will enable you to  demonstrate a thorough knowledge of how the HORECA trade sector can profitably sell wine in an extremely competitive market.
  • Administratively we use office 365, so a working knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word and importantly using spreadsheets, such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include knowledge of organic and sustainable wines, familiarity with the hospitality sector, a valid driver’s license, and a proactive, self-organized working style.

The job carries a very competitive Salary plus bonuses, pension, company car, Laptop and a fully expensed phone

By definition possesion of a driving license is essential.
