A well-established and renowned wine producer is seeking a full time Vineyard Assistant, based in Mid-Sussex.  The successful candidate will report to the Vineyard Manager and liaise with contract vineyard workers. It will be the Vineyard Assistant’s job to assist with all viticultural aspects of the business.

Main roles and responsibilities include:

• Vine pruning and tying down.
• Trellis maintenance
• Canopy management.
• Tractor driving using a variety of implements (trimming, mulching, leaf stripping, mowing, cultivating.)
• Spraying vine canopy and weeds.
• Assisting with frost prevention during the spring.
• Supervising and reporting progress of vineyard sub contract labour.
• Vineyard data collection and record keeping.
• Member of grape collection team during harvest.

 Requirements:

• Vineyard tractor driving experience.
• At least some basic viticultural knowledge.
• Preferable PA1 & PA3
• Ability to work in all weather.
• Full driving licence
• Right to work in the UK.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a degree of flexibility key times of the season; spring frost and harvest.
• IT skills: MS Office, Word and Excel.
• Work in accordance with SALSA and Health and Safety policies.
