Vineyard Operator/Supervisor/Lead
(Wine Jobs:
Vineyards & Cellars )
Full Time
Pympne Manor Estate
Cranbrook, Kent,
England
Mudwall vineyards
As one of Kent’s newest vineyards, we are looking to recruit someone to grow with our operation. Our first vineyard 3ha will fruit this year for the first time with a combination of Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Our second vineyard is just planted. The estate is situated on the outskirts of Cranbrook, in the heart of England’s wine country.
We aim to develop a reputation for outstanding quality wines, from a beautiful boutique high-quality estate.
We want to take on someone who will be primarily responsible for producing our grapes each year. Initially they will work directly in the vineyard and supervise contract labour as required. In time as the operation grows more complex, we would see them recruiting a team around them.
The role will be initially part-time, seasonal and flexible (eg more hours during harvest), although pay could be evened out across the year. The role would suit someone working in a larger vineyard operation who is keen to get experience at a higher level; or someone studying viticulture at and eager for a flexible, related responsible part time role.
We currently expect the first year to require at least 600 hours/75 days pa.
Key qualities:
Experienced in vineyard operations including pruning, tying, frost control, bud rub, canopy management, spraying, harvest, etc.
Highly practical with can-do attitude
Able to work unsupervised
Proud to provide the best quality
Capable of liaising with contract labour, agronomist, viticulture consultants etc
Skills or Qualifications:
Viticultural qualifications and/or practical experience
PA1, PA2 and PA3 pesticide certification & spraying experience
Tractor driving experience
