ASSISTANT WINEMAKER POSITION

Simpsons’ Wine Estate creates award-winning, estate-grown English wines that reflect the exquisite characteristics of our iconic chalk terroir in the North Downs of Kent. As we continue to grow and innovate, we are looking for a dedicated and skilled Assistant Winemaker to join our passionate, close-knit team.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Senior Winemaker, the Assistant Winemaker will be involved in every stage of the winemaking process from grape to bottle. This is a hands-on role with leadership responsibilities, including the day-to-day supervision of a dedicated Cellar Hand and seasonal harvest team. The successful candidate will be highly organised, technically proficient, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a commercial winery, with exposure to all stages of winemaking.
  • A degree in Viticulture & Oenology, or related field.
  • Familiarity with winery management software (Vintrace experience beneficial).
  • Forklift license (or willingness to obtain).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Comfortable working long hours during harvest and peak periods, including weekends.
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 25 kg and work in varying conditions.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
