Wine Shop/Bar Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

We are currently seeking an experienced Manger to join our team at our Bristol shop & bar. 

The position on offer is a varied role at our dual purpose business. We are a wine shop/deli during the day that we flip into a wine bar in the evenings so we are looking for someone to lead our management team on both bar and shop shifts.

- You will be looking after the everyday running of the shop/bar,

- Stock management

- Rotas's

- Event Planning and hosting

- Curating a dynamic by the glass list

- Creating an excellent wine shop portfolio by regular visitng trade tastings

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent communication and engaging customer service skills together ideally with wine retail experience as well
  • We have a focus on organics/biodynamics/sustainability so a broad understanding of these procedures and this style of wine will be beneficial
  • A strong passion for wine and the ability to discuss in depth and advise on of wine purchases at all levels (minimum WSET level 3 or equivalent knowledge)
  • A solid understanding and passion for all things cheese and charcuterie
  • Hospitality management experience
  •  Strong ability to build rapport with local customers and advise on wine purchases at all levels.
  • A high level of integrity, reliability and trustworthiness together with a positive, driven and self-motivating attitude.
  • Well organised with good attention to detail and energetic.
  • Ability to grow the business to the next level working with the owner to really push things forward and on to the next level
  • A proven history of curating dynamic wine lists and wine buying or assisting with
  • A high level of integrity, reliability and flexibility with a warm and friendly manner
  • A smart and professional image and attitude, as well as a sense of humour are essential

 

This is the ideal position for either an experienced supervisor to progress to their first Manager position, or for a current restaurant/bar Manager looking to further their career in the wine trade by getting a good grounding in the independent sector.
