Morrish & Banham Wine Merchants of Dorset are looking to expand our retail team and we are searching for an enthusiastic, charismatic wine professional to join our team.

Morrish & Banham are part of a wider business, The Electric Pub Company, with a portfolio of 4 pubs, vineyard, cider orchard, seafood restaurant, arts centre and theatre. For the retail wine team, we are needing an individual to be based mainly in our store in the beautiful market town of Bridport, Dorset. We have 2 retail stores, the other based in Dorchester. The role would suit previous experience in the wine trade and retail knowledge. Candidates must have great customer service, flexibility, a passion for wine and learning and a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

You would be working alongside the business owners and a small team. The role is to be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Bridport wine shop. The hours of opening are 10am to 6pm, Tuesday to Saturday with occasional evening work. The role is full time but we can consider job share for part time.

Aspects include:

·        Advising customers on wine purchases

·        Customer facing sales, wine by bottle and by the glass

·        Assisting to grow sales

·        Stock control

·        Involvement in wine tastings and events,

·        Assisting with trade and web sales.

·        Some evening work may be required.

We are looking for someone who has:

·        Experience in wine industry, preferable retail

·        Great customer service,

·       Passion for wine, wine knowledge  

·        Positive ‘can do’ attitude.

·        Proactive, practical

·        Good attention to detail

·        Desire to sell

·        Good communication skills, team player but also work well on own initiative

·        Desire to work for a small company but make a big difference

·        WSET level 2 preferred but full training including WSET will be given.
