Wanted Sommelier and Junior Sommelier for Michelin Starred Restaurant 
Carters of Moseley is looking to expand their management team with Sommelier and Junior Sommelier level roles to be considered.

We are an exciting & innovative modern British Michelin Star restaurant located just outside Birmingham City Centre. The menu focus is on local, sustainable and highly seasonal British ingredients realised by Chef Brad Carter.

We are listed in the Restaurant Magazine Top 100, Sunday Times Top 100 in the UK & The Good Food Guide as Restaurant of the Year. Accolades also include 1 Michelin Star and 3 AA Rosettes.

The restaurant offers set Tasting Menus with Wine Pairing. To mirror the philosophy in the kitchen our wines are full of naturally occurring microbiology & farmed organically, biodynamically or dry farmed with a considered emphasis on biodiversity & sustainability.

We're looking for an individual who is:

  • Passionate & excited about British Food & Natural Wine
  • A strong leader & a management entrepreneur with great ambition to progress & create a fun & dynamic atmosphere
  • Able to demonstrate enthusiasm, confidence & energy when dealing with customers & colleagues
  • Inquisitive and eager to learn
  • Commercially & environmentally minded with some financial experience
  • Action-orientated, proactive & autonomous
  • Proficient computer skills & experience including Microsoft Word, Excel and other appropriate software.
  • Able to speak English well enough to communicate with your team, front of house and senior management

The ideal candidate will have great organisational skills along with the passion & commitment to deliver a dynamic service environment for both their colleagues & the restaurant’s guests. While professional wine qualifications (such as WSET) are not imperative, an awareness of & enthusiasm towards ‘Natural’ wine with experience delivering wine pairings to guests would be excellent.

Duties include:

  • Maintaining standards while meeting & constantly aiming to exceed financial goals
  • Oversee guest satisfaction & management of daily service
  • Responsible for assigned food and beverage/culinary operations, also assisting food service
  • Motivate/coach junior staff, provide guidance & train staff on food & wine service
  • Assisting owners to effectively run the restaurant & meet targets.
  • Managing reservations & liaising with Head Chef regarding regular seasonal menu changes & guest dietary requirements
  • Profit & loss accountability
