Reporting to the Assistant Winemaker and Production Manager, the Cellar Hand will be responsible for assisting with all winemaking operations from harvest to dispatch and help ensure an efficient, safe and compliant winery. The role will start at the beginning of September in preparation for harvest and is well-suited to a candidate looking for their first winemaking role, with a willingness to develop skills in this area.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with winemaking for both The Grange and contract clients
- Cooperate with the Winemakers and Vineyard Team to underpin wine quality
- Assist with ensuring the wineries compliance with safety, maintenance, environmental, food standards and all other relevant legislation
- Help advance wine production, with respect to quality, sustainability and efficiency
- Supervise and mentor any junior and seasonal workforce to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures
- Help represent The Grange through market support activity, such as winery tours
- Assistance with vineyard activities throughout the year as and when required
Skills and Qualifications
- Vineyard, winemaking, brewing, warehouse experience preferred, but not essential
- Proficient in forklift operations (external training will be provided for this)
- Physically capable for hands-on winemaking and vineyard procedures
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel
