Gidleigh Park enjoys an exceptional position, situated in 107 acres of secluded gardens and woodland. The hotel is located within the heart of Dartmoor National Park and has the North Teign River flowing openly through the grounds. The 24 individually designed and beautifully decorated rooms are sumptuously furnished, with all the modern conveniences you would expect, yet they still retain much of their original and delicate charm. With Executive Head Chef Michael Caines MBE at the helm, the restaurant is renowned for creating innovative European dishes and has received much critical acclaim from food lovers around the world. The restaurant is considered to be one of the finest in the country and for the last ten years has been the proud holder of two Michelin stars. Alongside its outstanding cuisine, Gidleigh Park’s wine offering over looked by Master Sommelier Edouard Oger has long enjoyed the reputation of having one of the finest wine lists in the country.
What you'll need
We are looking for a Head Sommelier with excellent food and wine knowledge and experience of working in a fine dining Michelin star environment.
The ideal candidate will have started the Master Sommelier or the WSET programs, and the desire to develop within the business, and have experience of working with a large and complex wine list, as Gidleigh Park has approximately 1300 bins on their exceptional list. The successful canidate will work under our Restaurant and Beverage Manager, Edouard Oger, who will guide and nuture them in the role, and within a team of 3 other sommeliers.
The role will allow for progression at development both at Gidleigh Park, with the possibility of developing across other hotels within the group. Enthusiasm and a true passion for providing an unforgettable dining experience are key to this role.
