SWGB Scheme Manager
(Wine Jobs:
Management & Administration)
Part Time
Working from home, but visiting vineyards in the SE,
England
Recognising that the English and Welsh wine industry has a shared responsibility to conserve the environment and mitigate against climate change, WineGB has initiated the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain Accreditation Scheme (SWGB). Now in its third year, this project has gained over 120 members from all parts of the country, representing some 40% of the total area under vine in the UK, with a production capability of around 8 million bottles. The Scheme is led by a workgroup comprising commercial grapegrowers and winemakers, together with industry sponsors, including Marks & Spencer and Waitrose. WineGB is looking to recruit a Scheme Manager who can ensure the future development and success of this initiative.
The main role is to work towards our aim of securing sustainability at the heart of the GB wine production industry. This unique opportunity will enable the successful applicant to make a highly positive contribution to a thriving industry with great potential, and to the environmental, social, and economic sustainability of the vinegrowing regions of the UK. He or she will require a clear understanding of grapegrowing, winemaking, and sustainability issues, plus excellent communication and problem-solving skills. As we are keen to secure the best candidate, we are offering the position in either full-time or part-time mode. The Manager will work independently from home, but should be prepared to visit Scheme Members in their vineyards and wineries. He or she will be strongly supported by the SWGB Chair (Chris Foss, formerly of Plumpton College), the WineGB Office staff, and the SWGB Workgroup and Technical Committees.
Deadline for applications 20th June 2022.
