We have a fantastic new opportunity at Wiston Estate for someone to join our team as Head of Sales. Based in the heart of West Sussex, Wiston Estate is one of the UK’s most awarded sparkling wine producers and is entering into an exciting new phase in its story with the opening of Chalk Restaurant and a brand new tasting room and refurbished winery. This role will be focussed on sales of our wines but will link into the estate’s wider principles and purpose – to foster a rural meeting place where people, nature and enterprises coexist and flourish. This creates a unique opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about wine and specifically English wine, but will also enjoy working alongside the rest of the estate, which covers a great diversity of projects, from regenerative farming, hospitality, forestry, countryside stewardship, land management and more. The estate believes strongly in investing in people, maximising our resources, championing fresh thinking and extending a generous welcome to all who come to the estate.
We are looking for a candidate with a passion for wine and good knowledge and understanding of the UK wine trade. They will own the sales strategy, delivering both B2C and B2B sales plans. They will work closely with the winery production team and the Head of Marketing, but be able to own projects independently, whilst managing multiple stakeholders. Key areas will be; managing distribution partners, (both in the UK and export partners will be a key element), as well as growing direct sales, owning pricing strategy, owning new product development and launches.
Key requirements:
➢ Minimum 5 years experience in the UK wine trade with B2C and B2B markets, exports desired
➢ WSET qualifications – minimum level 3, diploma desired
➢ An interest in and understanding of ‘purpose led’ organisations
➢ Proven experience of delivering commercial success through innovation
➢ Strong communication skills with demonstrable experience of collaborating with multiple stakeholders
➢ Competent user of IT, including Microsoft Office
➢ Organised and outstanding attention to detail
➢ Full drivers’ license (due to rural location)
➢ Full right to work in the UK
