At Stanlake Park Wine Estate we've been producing wine using our own grapes since 1979. Our range include traditional method sparkling white and rosé, and a great variety of still whites, reds and rosé. We grow several grapes, including well-known Pinot Noir, Meunier, Gewürztraminer and Dornfelder but also lesser-known Schönburger, Siegerrebbe, Seyval blanc and others. We also offer contract winemaking services.
We are a small, passionate and very hardworking team performing a range of tasks, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and friendly person to join us.
This is a permanent position with a 3 months-trial and min 32 hours per week.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting the winemaker with operations such as crushing, fermentation, bottling, disgorging, labelling.
- Assisting in vineyard operations like pruning, harvesting, trimming, etc.
- Perform cleaning and sanitising duties
- Moving stock and operating machinery
- Be ready to work some weekends from time to time
Please note that this is a very hands-on position, can be physically demanding and you need to be ready to work both outdoors and indoors, even when it's cold, drizzling, etc.
Requirements
- Experience in a vineyard/cellar environment
- Be flexible between tasks (some days are boring, that's real life in a cellar!)
- Be hard working and committed with the job
- Have a positive, can-do attitude
- A reliable team player
- Over 18 years-old
- Be fit and able to lift 25 kg
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK
Priority will be given to candidates that:
- Live in the area or within a short commuting
- Hold formal wine studies (ideally in Enology and/or Viticulture, Plumpton College or similar)
- Are interested in covering other positions within the winery, such us shop assistant, tour and tasting guide, etc.
What we offer
We offer a permanent position after a 3-months trial; payment per hour, min 32 hours per week; 20% staff discount on wine purchases and the possibility of joining a vibrant, passionate and young team of winemakers.
Candidates will also have the chance to join monthly tastings, attend to wine events, participate in our tours and be fully involved in every activity.
We are in Twyford, a 15-minutes walk on pavements from the train station.
