Quality Manager (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

This role will suit a detail oriented, customer service focused professional with science or quality control background or education. As the Quality Manager, you will be joining a dynamic Twickenham based team with some excellent professional development opportunities. The Quality Manager will manage the maintenance and continuous improvement of TWE product quality at our contract packers and related 3rd party warehousing facilities within Europe, work with suppliers, TWE Operations and Global Technical teams to reduce non-conformances.  Additionally, manage consumer/customer product quality queries, complaints, reporting and escalation. 

What will you do as Quality Manager? 

• Collaborate with other TWE Technical leads to ensure that Technical and Quality standards are relevant, defined and operating to standard and to ensure that TWE product is produced to standard and delivered to customer in alignment with TWE Food Safety and Quality standards.

• Subject Matter Expert for all technical and quality related issues

• Facilitate regular Stock at Risk tastings incorporating individuals from a variety of business areas (technical, marketing, sales, winemaking); record and communicate recommendations for stock longevity and/or destruction based on tasting panel consensus and earmark parcels of opportunity/risk to sales teams immediately for action

• Keep up to date with BRC/IFS, HACCP, ISO, other relevant standards and local regulations with regards to wine.

• Generate certificates of analysis and other Technical documents as required and as requested by our customers.

• Lead the review and the development of regional quality protocols and supporting documents, including audit tools, in conjunction with other European sites

• Ensure that all relevant certifications are in place (eg Organics, BRC, IFS, HACCP, ISO 9001) for TWE, our source wineries, copackers and warehouses and that all certification certificates are held centrally on our network

• Interpretation and translation of technical wine data.

• Monitoring, evaluation and reporting of trends on incoming wine to identify areas of focus and/or improvement for source wineries and liaise with source wineries in the event of non-conformance for the implementation of effective corrective actions

• Review incoming Bottling Approval Forms (BAFs) for errors and take appropriate action to correct any errors. 

• Review and approval of specifications as generated by Contract Pack Co-ordinator

• Review and provide approval for internally generated product specifications

• Review incoming product analysis from Contract Packers for errors and take appropriate action to correct any errors.

• Perform post packaging assessment and assessment statistics to co-packers to drive continuous improvement

• Ensure robust measurement and reporting of co-packers Right First Time (RFT) performance and monitor against contractual standards

• Work collaboratively with contract packers to drive timely resolution of quality related issues

• Conduct regular technical audits of 3rd party suppliers to ensure on-going adherence to TWE capability and performance expectations

• Collaborate with Supply team to ensure robust measurement and reporting of co-packers right first-time performance

• Support Head of Supply Chain Projects, NPD and Quality to work collaboratively with contract packers in the development and evolution of quality management processes to ensure on-going quality of finished goods

• Manage consumer/customer issues and complaints that are directed to Europe Technical :

  • Ensure that these are handled in a timely manner.

  • Assist with resolution of quality problems.

  • Issue monthly trend reporting of complaints

• High level review of trends from UK complaints data and feedback any intelligence to internal and external teams (winemaking, production and technical) as required to investigate and implement corrective actions

 To be our Quality Manager you will have:

• Science or engineering degree and relevant experience

• Understanding of Wine Chemistry and Microbiological analysis

• Preferably experienced in QA / beverage processing environment with an understanding of winemaking, brewing and packaging processes

• Customer service

• Problem solving / analytical skills
